Description

“Semer la vie et récolter l’avenir” by Yandy Graffer

About Artist :

Abraham Portocarrero, alias Yandy Graffer, was born in 1992 in Lima, Peru.

Multidisciplinary artist, he started in the middle of Graffiti in 2006, in particular with the aerosol, before carrying out large-scale murals. Expressive and colorful, his work is marked by the desire to create volume. For some time he has been focusing on a new universe, leading to a personal reflection on the meaning of life.

His work starts from the desire to idealize the formation of the universe before the genesis, in this way his work has been enriched with a more dreamlike dimension by proposing a reflection on the origins of life before the Creation and the celebration. of the cycle of life. When everything was one: Sky, Earth and Sea. The universe moved by a single creative energy. Before the division of the world and the emergence of the living… What existed? In the beginning, there was therefore: the “fish-fruit”. And so begins the cycle of life in his universe; after having been fish-fruit, we enter a beautiful evolution and a new stage, in which we become amphibians, then reptiles. Today, he wants to continue to explore the depths of his memory, to return, in a way, to the source of his imagination! Where it all began… To the “first fruits”, in other words, to the “initial dreams” which served to build the matrix of all his artistic work.

Yandy is also inspired by its roots, its national and family identities. This is also how the character of the artisanal fisherman was born. Starting from his childhood memories, he became interested in the marine world. This is also what led him to reflect on the culture of his personal identity, and for the most part on his passion for the hip hop movement, which strongly inspired him whether artistically, in clothing, or musically. It was she who finally pushed him to enter the world of graffiti in 2006.
