Biography
Chlo Hej is a contemporary French artist who uses both large- and small-scale media to investigate the subjects of movement and meditation. In France and Denmark, she pursued studies in Fine Arts, Art History, and Architecture. Today, her favourite form of self-expression are painting and visual arts.
Her work reflects her love for yoga, outdoor activities and travel as well as the constant pursuit of “an inner freedom in movement” that has been her motivation throughout her life.
She co-founded “Hope Wave” in 2022, an artistic and environmental nonprofit organisation whose aim is to build a bridge between art and ocean preservation challenges.
Artistic Approach
Mandala and oceans provide a source of inspiration for Chlo Hej’s meditative artwork. Her paintings explore the border between abstraction and figurative. All hypnotic, they invite the viewers to connect to their own energies and perceptions.
Her work evokes a sense of peace in motion. With her play of transparency and through the rhythm of lines and dots, Chlo Hej creates patterns, visual expansions that seem to move on their supports, like bursts of energy moving in space, sometimes around a central point, sometimes in organic forms.
These rhythms and movements continue to vibrate around their support to finally impact the space of the piece and create a new visual and spatial feeling for its observer.
