Biography
Eric Sanger Monteros, born in 1960 in Neuilly-sur- Seine, France, is a photographer whose passion for photography began at the age of sixteen. While his career initially led him into civil engineering after studying at the School of Public Works, his true artistic calling has always guided him.
Artistic Approach
Since his young ages, equipped with a 135mm camera mounted on a Nikon body, he embarked on photography, primarily focusing on black and white “reportage” photography. He created portraits, images of nature, and some architectural shots. The satisfaction of mastering the entire process, from capturing the image to developing prints on paper, deeply inspired him.
Over the years, revolutionary technical advancements expanded his artistic horizons. The ability to endlessly refine his photos, memorize shooting parameters, significant improvements in equipment for low-light conditions, and advancements in optics offered new possibilities. He could now dedicate hours to perfecting his shots, understanding underlying mechanisms, and refining his artistic approach.
Before clicking the shutter, he habitually observes his subjects meticulously to capture their deepest subtleties. His preferred domain is nature, and he particularly delved into the mysteries of water. Fascinated by its reflective and refractive properties, he immersed himself in the world of aquatic photography. Thanks to his expertise, he captured dreamlike scenes of astonishing elegance, harmony, and diversity.
Years of meticulous work allowed him to master hydraulic phenomena, comprehend their appearances, and develop suitable shooting techniques. The result is a collection of exquisite images, where harmony and aesthetics are at the core of each snapshot. He emphasises that his works are not computer-generated creations manipulated by image editing software but authentic depictions of reality as he perceives it.
Today, Eric Sanger Monteros continues to capture the beauty of the world around him through his lens, revealing the magic of nature and water in a new light while preserving the artistic integrity and purity of traditional photography.
Artistic Projects
- 2017-2019
The collection of images by Eric Sanger Monteros assembled on the subject of water resonates with contemporary musical compositions.
In 2017, in collaboration with Nicolas KRUGER, a Conductor, and Mara DOBRESCO, an international pianist, a performance titled “Water Projection” was developed. This performance was based on the Ephemerals and Haikus, which are short piano pieces composed by Philippe HERSANT, a contemporary composer.
Numerous presentations of this show took place in different locations. In 2017, it was performed in Paris at the Théâtre du Ranelagh, in 2018, it was presented for the City of CROIX in the Nord department, and in 2019, it was showcased in Romania, specifically in Cluj and Brachov, as part of the France-Romania season.
- 2020
In August 2020, an exhibition was held during the Fantazia show at Montigny Castle in Yonne.
Since then, the opportunities for further international engagements have been put on hold due to complications arising from health restrictions and travel difficulties.
