Biography
Enfant prodige, Tiziano Autera (b.1992) received his training in art and craftsmanship through his father, who would carve wooden sculptures, whose inherent references are today a visible legacy in Autera’s oeuvre. Academically trained in graphic design, later on, he reverts to figurative art to feed his profound desire to shape unprecedented combinations.
Hailing from Switzerland, he already counts on a varied roster of international galleries and numerous side artistic and creative projects.
Artistic Approach
In the continuous quest for his style, Tiziano Autera disrupts cultural constructs and optical systems, molding perceptions and experiences of the overall exhibition. Abstaining from the given definitions of art, the artist deliberately mixes unconventional and hierarchical techniques like Cubism, exuding a hitherto unseen sense of nonconformity and deep personal research. At stake is a biological investigation of everything that is physical and metaphysical. As he flows into his unique narrative, he chronicles the individuality of his psychologically charged characters, thoughtfully drawn or otherwise vividly colored, however always distinct from one another. Quick brush strokes parallel chiaroscuro sketches, and fluid figures accompany dreaming and otherworldly women, for instance: Reflection. The work portrays a seemingly soft coral divinely contouring a feminine face; her gaze is absent and void, yet she attentively speaks to the audience. Autera often pays homage to the women and the feminine figure; in his artworks, the essence of being alive meets beauty and the authentic roundness of flesh.
ABOUT THE SERIES “ARTIFICIAL EXISTENCE”
In his relentless search for the essence of human existence, Tiziano Autera breaks down our cultural constructs, plays with our visual perception and shapes experiences that make us think. In doing so, he defies existing definitions of art and combines unconventional approaches with hierarchical techniques such as cubism, which evokes in us an unprecedented feeling of non-conformity and reflects a profound personal examination of human existence.
His picture series “Artificial Existence” consists of a series of acrylic paintings that show us strange shapes, varied colours, sensual lines and strange bodies, all of which gain meaning in an abstract or semi-abstract composition. Through his unique narrative, he lets us look into the souls of his characters, who speak to us and ask us the question about the essence of existence.
In “Artificial Existence” the view of the change in our existence is raised to the meta level using planned coincidences. On the one hand, we look at technological change in an age of increasing digitalization, in which data and media determine our everyday lives. On the other hand, we see social change away from traditional role models and towards a spectrum of sexual identity. The main focus of the consideration is not social constructs or philosophical approaches, but rather the interaction of human existence and its natural environment — seen in this way, the representation of human nature from the inside out as a symbol of the change in our existence.
